Dominic West is an exceptional actor and exceptional human being and I simply cannot bring myself to be unhappy about this (though my heart goes out to his sister). If he hadn’t been nominated for ‘Appropriate Adult’ he could just as easily been nominated for ‘The Hour’ and he probably still would have been the man to beat. Heck, he could have been nominated for both and tied with himself, it was just that kind of year for him and, even with ‘Appropriate Adult’ doing a tidy bit of business in the acting categories on the whole, this still almost seems like the BAFTA’s way of saying, “Look, every time we turned around, Dominic West was being fucking fantastic all over the damn place, okay?”

I’m calling it, though: Next year, Benedict wins for ‘Parade’s End.’
